¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to the 2009 Noche de Gala Scholarship Dinner Dance celebrating “Excellence in Health Care.” This year we honor three distinguished individuals who have contributed their volunteer time and efforts to the Latino community of Monroe County, and two local corporations.

Our guest of honor and speaker this evening is Roberto Torres, Esq., deputy secretary for Administration for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Tonight, we honor Lissette Lahoz, executive director of the Neighborhood Health Centers of the Lehigh Valley, and Barbara J. Keiser, director of the Eastern Monroe Public Library in Stroudsburg.  Lissette receives the Leadership Award for her commitment to the health and welfare of the Latino community in Pennsylvania, and Barbara Keiser, director of the Eastern Monroe Public Library in Stroudsburg, receives the Community Leadership Award for her commitment to inclusion in the service of all the residents of Monroe County.  Both ACM and Mt. Airy Casino Resort receive the Corporate Support Award for reaching out to the Latino workforce in our area.

We also congratulate our scholarship recipient Jasmine McCormack-Jimenez—admitted to the College of Liberal Arts of the Penn State Hazleton campus— who wrote the winning essay. Jasmine is a graduate of Stroudsburg High School with a 3.6 grade point average.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Honorary Gala Committee members: Dr. Gustavo Dayan of sanofi-pasteur; Maryanne Heeter of the Pocono Mountains Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals; Christina Rodis-Durst of Shiro Japanese Restaurant and Dance Club, and Billie Andrews of the Chateau Resort & Conference Center.
