Scholarship Fund —Provides financial support for a Latino student residing in Monroe County. Ongoing

Latino Artist Series— Series of activities showcasing Latino artists and providing them with an opportunity to publicize and sell their work. Ongoing.

Legislative Watch— Monitoring of upcoming federal or state legislation of interest to the Latino community. Ongoing.

Public Policy Advocacy—  Visits with legislators and letter writing to educate on issues of importance to the Latino community. Ongoing.

Education— Writing of press releases discussing issues of concern and publicizing work of the organization.  Articles in the Pocono Record and appearances on WVIA, Blue Ridge Cable, and ABC television stations. Appearances by LTF members at area colleges and universities, including Bloomsburg University, Scranton University, and Rutgers University to discuss relevant Latino topics. Ongoing.    

2009 Events

 Meet & Greet Community Picnic

Community Appreciation Picnic—  Held August 16, 2009 at Coolbaugh Township Municipal Park.  Many thanks to State Representative Mario Scavello, Monroe County Commissioner Teresa Merli, and Pocono Mountain School Board candidate Dorothy Sirolly for stopping by. Picnic participation was opened to all who wished to attend. Thanks to: LTF Civic Committee members Lillian Gonzalez, Ari Sepulveda, Wanda Cruz, and Mitch Marcus for helping to set up the picnic.  A special thanks to Ramon Ferreris for serving as our grilling chef, and to the Coolbaugh Towship Soccer Association, and coach Benito Juarez, for stopping by.

Art Exhibit and Free Workshops

Sunday, October 11, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.,Eastern Monroe Public Library. Click Photo Gallery for 2008 program. Latino artists will exhibit their work and free art workshops and a bilingual story hour will be available for children and families.

State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Pocono Arts Council.
